Comics' Biggest Turnarounds 2: Frankenstein

Dell didn't just get cold feet about their Dracula comic. There was Frankenstein too (or the Monster of...). Ponder the Karloffy goodness of Frankenstein #1:And now Dell's Frankenstein #2:
According to my trusty Encyclopedia of Super-Heroes, he was built of dead bodies in 1866 near Metropole City, slept for a century, took a fleshtone mask to town and starting living as "Frank Stone". Occupation: Millionaire monster (kind of like Donald Trump, but green). His story continued for 2 more issues:
And he had a supporting cast too, including a valet called William, who was the only one who knew his identity, and Miss Ann Thrope (oh god, I just got that, groan), his unwitting girlfriend.
Go go, necrophilia!

those Dell monster movie adaptations are the ultimate bait-and-switch. the covers are beautifully moody and cool, yet the insides are duller than...well, any other comic ever made.

Is that the Jeff Rovin Encyclopedia of Super-Heroes? I loved that book as a kid (factual errors, weird inclusions & exclusions, and all)... I read and re-read it until the covers fell off.

Soup: I'm not sure it's too disco, but it's pretty far from what you expect from the title.

Bill: Yes, that's the one. And same here. I also have the Super-Villains one (but not the Monsters) but it's relatively pristine compared to the first book.
